Who we are

The Chase is best known for its understanding of brands, for its creativity and for its strategic thinking. We firmly believe in the strategic importance of good design and are privileged to have been entrusted with brand design and guardianship for some very substantial organisations, with many of whom we enjoy relationships of longstanding. Over the years The Chase has earned an outstanding, sustained reputation for creative excellence. In 2012 we were ranked No.1 in the Design Week league table and 1st in the specific disciplines of both 'Branding and Print'.

What we do

The Chase has a very simple philosophy, based on a story. Once, there was an old Indian wood carver who carved the most beautiful elephants from unpromising blocks of timber. Asked how he did it, he simply replied:
'I just cut away the wood that doesn't look like an elephant.'
25 years ago The Chase adopted this story to describe how we go about our work.
First, to be absolutely clear as to what sort of animal the brand or organisation is and, equally important, what it isn't. (the 'big dig', where we research our clients, look at their products, try out their services, talk to their customers, look at the competition, talk to members of staff, audit current material, understand what engages with stakeholders both internally and externally)
Second, to work to a precise brief based on the unique circumstances which create a communications problem. (to summarise our findings and most importantly to focus on factors that are most unique to our client. What will get them noticed, what best reflects their personality, what do they stand for)
Third, to add the creative spark that brings the solution to life in order to meet the client's commercial objectives. (translating the focussed brief into an engaging, creative and appropriate solution - the big idea)
And finally, to express the concepts in a way in which every mark has a reason for being. (craft to maximise aesthetic appeal, and focus to ensure the most effective communication).
